MTEN: Hofstra Posts 5-2 Win Over NYIT

Hempstead, NY - Hofstra won four singles matches and took the doubles point as well in a 5-2 win over NYIT Friday afternoon. The Pride upped their record to 4-5 with the win, while the Bears slipped to 7-7 on the year.

The win was Hofstra's third straight.

Ari Richman posted a 6-4, 6-0 win at first singles over Jamie Salvador, while Adrien Bailly defeated Niko Jubera, 6-1, 6-1, at third doubles. The two also teamed at first doubles and defeated Salvador and Jubera, 8-5.

Joseph Erichsen won his fourth singles match over Pedro Peixoto, 6-3, 6-1. He also teamed with Pedro Gimenez at second doubles to defeat Julian Marcon and Eduardo Maurtua, 8-3. Gimenez won his fifth singles match, 6-2, 6-0, over Marcon.

NYIT's Tomas Lieb had the Bears lone win with a 7-5, 7-6 (10-3) win over Matthew Gemmell at second singles. The Bears picked up their second point due to Hofstra defaulting at sixth singles due to an injured player.

Hofstra returns to action Monday at Marist. Match time is 3 p.m.
