Hamden, CT - The Quinnipiac University men's tennis team swept Hofstra, 7-0, Sunday afternoon at the QU Outdoor Tennis Courts. The match was Hofstra's regular season finale before heading to the Colonial Athletic Association Championships this week..
Quinnipiac improved to 8-11 overall, while Hofstra fell to 5-10 on the year.
The Pride won at first doubles as Ari Richman and Adrien Bailly defeated Fahoum Fahoum and Garrett Lane, 8-2. But Chris Nelson and Alex Lazerowich teamed up to defeat Matthew Gemmell and Pedro Gimenez, 8-2, at second doubles. Hofstra needed to forfeit at the third doubles flight, which gave Quinnipiac the point and a 1-0 lead in the match.
The Bobcats swept through doubles, winning all five competed matches in straight sets. Sebastian Barbero got past Richman, 7-5, 6-4, at first singles; Fahoum defeated Gemmell, 6-0, 6-1, at the number two flight; Eric Ambrosio posted a win over Bailly at third singles, 6-3, 7-6 (6); Luke Roser defeated Ryhaan Gill at fourth singles, 6-0, 6-2, while Lane won at the fifth slot over Gimenez, 6-4, 6-1. Lazerowich won at sixth singles by default to complete the scoring.
