Bronx, NY - Led by a shutout from junior Stian Tvedt at first singles and a 6-0, 6-3 from junior Alex Hosner at sixth singles, the Hofstra Men's Stennis team won its first dual match of the 2009 season as they easily defeated Fordham, 7-0, on Wednesday afternoon.
Tvedt defeatd Austin Shoup of Fordham to lead the way for the Pride, while Hosner dispatched of Eli Plangger in the sixth singles match.
Also earning wins for the Pride were senior Matt Wacks, freshman Christ Damion, freshman Josh Levinson and junior Jason Sinkoff.
Hofstra also won all three doubles matches, with Wacks and Damion teaming up for an 8-6 win at first doubles over Shoup and Dallas Harting.
Hofstra returns to action this weekend when they head to the Brown Invitational.
