Hempstead, NY- Sophomore Genna Kovar earned All-Colonial Athletic Association first-team honors while junior Amy-Lee Levey was named to the second team. Freshman Micaela Gallagher rounded out the awards for Hofstra, garnering a spot on the All-Rookie team.
Kovar was in Gallagher's spot last season after a productive freshman campaign earned her a spot on the All-Rookie squad. Kovar's second season was even better as the Hampton Bays, NY, native scored a career-high 15 goals for the conference's third-highest total.
Kovar tallied nine multi-point games to become the second Pride player since 2007 to win first-team honors after Charlia Warner made the cut in 2008.
Levey complemented Kovar's production, scoring a career-high eight goals. Levey became the Pride's penalty stroke specialist, going 4-4 in those one-on-one situations. The Harare, Zimbabwe, native scored six goals in the past eight games, notching a key score in a victory over Towson in the regular season finale that helped propel Hofstra into the CAA Tournament for the sixth consecutive season.
Gallagher went scoreless in her first 13 collegiate games, playing more of a defensive-minded role as a midfielder and back. But Gallagher's first two goals were both game-winners, leading Hofstra over nationally ranked Old Dominion and Columbia in back-to-back contests.
Gallagher started all 19 of Hofstra's game in her first season. The Port Jefferson, NY, product fired off 33 shots and added one defensive save.
Top-seeded Drexel will face fourth-seeded Hofstra in the CAA Championship semifinal round Saturday at 1 p.m. The Dragons will enter that contest with a slew of accolades after 27-goal scorer Christina Mastropaolo won CAA Player of the Year honors.
Drexel's Sofia Sanguinetti was named the CAA Defensive Player of the Year and Dragons coach Denise Zelenak won Coach of the Year honors. Northeastern's Crystal Poland won the Rookie of the Year award.
