11/17/2009 8:00:00 PM

Hempstead, NY - Coming off a season-opening 77-60 victory over Buffalo last night, the Hofstra Women's Basketball team heads on the road on Wednesday as they travel to Brooklyn Heights, NY to take on St. Francis (NY).  Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Pope Physical Education Center.

It was a great coming out party for freshman forward Shante Evans in the Pride's win over the Bulls as Evans tallied game-highs of 17 points, 15 rebounds and five steals in her first-ever collegiate action.  Evans wasn't the only newcomer to shine on opening night as sophomore transfer center/forward Marie Malone contributed 11 points in her first game in a Pride uniform and freshman guard Candace Bond added six points and eight rebounds.  Redshirt sophomore guard Candice Bellocchio tallied 12 points, five rebounds and three assists in her return to the lineup after missing the majority of last season with an injury.

Hofstra leads the all-time series with St. Francis, 15-4, and won last season's meeting by the score of 70-46.  The Terriers enter Wednesday's encounter with an 0-1 record after dropping a 71-34 decision to Manhattan in its season opener on November 13.
