Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra Men's Soccer team placed three of its seniors on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Mid Atlantic Region team, it was announced today.

Senior defender Richard Martinez (Highland, NY) earned first-team all-region honors for the Pride, after earning second-team honors as a junior last year. Senior midfielder Rob Youhill (Harrogate, England) and senior defender Jamal Neptune (East Windsor, NJ) were both named to the third team, earning all-region accolades for the first time in their careers.

Martinez was named the Colonial Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Year after capping off a stellar career for the Pride. Martinez was a CAA All-Rookie team selection as a freshman, earned second-team honors as a sophomore, and landed on the first team in each of his last two seasons. In addition to his success at Hofstra. he has played for the Puerto Rico national team, earning six caps while playing in World Cup qualifying matches in 2008. He also earned honorable mention honors on Top Drawer Soccer's national team (Team of the Season) in November.

Youhill led Hofstra in scoring this season with five goals and six assists for 16 points. He finished his Hofstra career with 21 assists, tying him for third place on the school's career list. All five of his goals this season came in CAA games, including the game-winner in a 1-0 victory over defending champion George Mason, and two goals and one assist in a comeback 4-1 win over Drexel. He has twice represented Great Britain at the World University Games, traveling to Thailand in 2007 and Belgrade, Serbia in 2009.

Neptune was one of Hofstra's most consistent performers this season, earning all-tournament honors at both the Penn State Classic and the Stetson University Tournament in September. He also was named second-team All-CAA, the first time he was honored by the conference in his four seasons. Over the summer, Neptune started on an Ocean City Barons team that advanced to third round of the U.S. Open Cup, becoming the first amateur team in the 96-year history of the event to defeat two professional teams, before playing against D.C. United of Major League Soccer in the third round.

The Pride finished the 2009 season with an 8-7-2 record and a 6-3-2 mark in the Colonial Athletic Association, narrowly missing a CAA postseason berth on the final day of the regular season.
