Hempstead, NY - Six former Hofstra lacrosse players and one current Pride student-athlete are among the 25 members of the 25th Anniversary CAA Men's Lacrosse Team, the CAA announced. As part of its 25^th Anniversary celebration in 2009-10, the CAA is recognizing Silver Anniversary teams in 21 championship sports. The teams are selected by a panel of current and former head coaches in the conference.

The Hofstra honorees, with their years of participation, position, hometown and honors, are:

Jay Card - Hofstra - 2007-present - Attack - Caledon, Ontario

• Received CAA Player of the Year and honorable mention All-American honors in 2009
• Selected as the CAA Rookie of the Year and named 2^nd team All-CAA in 2008
• Led the CAA with 35 goals in 2009 and ranked 10^th with 27 in 2008

Athan Iannucci - Hofstra - 2004-06 - Attack - Coquitlam, British Columbia

• Chosen to the USILA All-America second team in 2006
• Two-time All-CAA selection who was the MVP of the 2006 CAA Tournament
• Set CAA and Hofstra records for goals in a season with 62 in 2006

Tom Kessler - Hofstra - 1999-2002 - Attack - Hicksville, N.Y.

• Earned 2^nd team USILA All-America honors in 2002 and 3^rd team honors in 2001
• Three-time first-team all-conference selection
• Hofstra's career goals leader with 140 and ranks third in career points (207)

Brett Moyer - Hofstra - 2003-06 - Defense - Ridley Park, Pa.

• Three-time USILA All-America selection, including first-team honors in 2006
• Honored as the CAA Defensive Player of the Year in 2005 and 2006
• Chosen as the MVP of the 2006 USILA North-South Senior All-Star Game

Nicky Polanco - Hofstra - 2001-02 - Defense - Oceanside, N.Y.

• Selected as the CAA Player of the Year and CAA Defensive Player of the Year in 2002
• Two-time USILA All-America selection, earning first-team honors in 2002
• Member of the United States World Team in 2002 and 2006

Chris Unterstein - Hofstra - 2003-06 - Attack - Shoreham, N.Y.

• Honored as the CAA Player of the Year and a USILA first-team All-American in 2006
• Three-time All-CAA selection, including first team honors in 2004 and 2006
• Set the CAA season record for points with 81 in 2006

Kevin Unterstein - Hofstra - 2005-08 - Midfield - Shoreham, N.Y.

• Named CAA Defensive Player of the Year and CAA Tournament MVP in 2008
• Two-time All-CAA selection who was an honorable mention All-American in 2007
• Ranks fourth all-time in the CAA with 245 ground balls

The CAA Silver Anniversary Men's Lacrosse team includes nine former CAA Players of the Year and 17 All-America selections. Men's lacrosse has been a championship sport in the CAA since 2002. Former member Loyola won the first CAA championship in 2002 before Towson reeled off three consecutive titles from 2003-2005. Hofstra claimed the CAA crown in 2006 and 2008, while Delaware took home the league title in 2007 and Villanova won the championship in 2009.

The conference has had multiple teams selected to participate in the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship in four of the past eight years. Delaware advanced to the Final Four of the NCAA Championship in 2007 after knocking off 2^nd-seeded Virginia and UMBC. Towson reached the quarterfinals in 2003 and Hofstra made the quarterfinals in 2006 after tying an NCAA record with 17 victories.
