Hot Springs, VA - Junior Morgan Heyrman shot an 83 (+11) and is tied for 30th place after the first round of the Colonial Athletic Association Championship at The Old Course at The Homestead. Heyrman is nine strokes off the lead.
Heyrman was seven over par on the front nine, including two double-bogeys, but played the back nine four shots over par. Her back nine included a birdie on the par 5 15th hole, three par scores and five bogeys.
Junior Amy Hoffmann shot an 86 (+14) and is tied for 38th, while freshman Erica Barnes is tied for 44th with an 87 (+15). Freshman Jenna Masnyk is 48th after carding an 89 (+17) and junior Christine Klatman is 49th with a 94 (+22).
As a team, Hofstra is 10th in the 10-team field with a score of 345 (+57). UNC Wilmington is th eteam leader after a first round 307 (+19). James Madison's Nicole Sakamoto and UNCW's Carmen Perez-Narbon are tied for the lead at 74 (+2).
The second round of the CAA Championship will take place Saturday.
