Hempstead, NY - Hofstra
freshmen wrestlers Paul Snyder and Luke Vaith have been named to the 2010
Colonial Athletic Association All-Rookie Wrestling Team.
Snyder, a red-shirt freshman from Greensburg, Pennsylvania, recorded an 11-16
record for the Pride this past season. The two-time Pennsylvania State High
School Championship place-winner was 7-10 in dual matches and 5-2 in CAA action
as Hofstra's lone 285-pound competitor. He placed fourth at the North Carolina
State Open last November. Snyder was
fourth on the Pride team in major decisions with five.
Vaith, a true
freshman from Hastings, Minnesota, posted a 16-18 record during the 2009-10
season. The former Minnesota State High School champion and three-time
freestyle All-American, recorded a 13-13 mark at 141 pounds, including a 5-8
record in duals and a 3-1 slate in CAA action. Vaith also wrestled at 133 pounds
and posted a 3-5 record. He placed second at the CAA Championships in March,
losing to Drexel's Steve Mytych in the title match, 2-1. Vaith, who led the
Pride in tech falls with three, also placed fourth at the East Stroudsburg University
Open.
