Hempstead, NY - Five Hofstra Men's Soccer alumni will be playing for the Long Island Rough Riders in the Premier Development League this season, including Michael Todd ('07), Gary Flood ('07), Rory McCrea ('10), Jamal Neptune ('10) and Rob Youhill ('10).
“These are five very talented and driven players, who would strengthen any roster they play for,” said Paul Roderick, Rough Riders Head Coach and fellow Hofstra alumnus ('99).
Todd and Flood both played with the Rough Riders last season, while McCrea and Neptune played for the division rival Ocean City Barons (see group photo after last season's Rough Riders-Barons playoff game above). Youhill, meanwhile, will be in his first season in the PDL after playing for Great Britain in the World University Games last summer (and in 2007).
The five players were all teammates at Hofstra for one season in the fall of 2006, when the Pride finished 12-6-3, won its third straight Colonial Athletic Association championship and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament with a 2-0 win over Providence.
Todd was the 2006 Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year, Flood was a first-team All-CAA selection and played for the New England Revolution in Major League Soccer, while McCrea was named the team MVP for the Barons last season, after helping his team reach the quarterfinals of the PDL playoffs. Neptune was an All-CAA selection as a senior last fall, while Youhill earned that distinction three times and graduated with 21 career assists, tied with Todd for third on the Pride's career list.
The Rough Riders open their 2010 season on May 12 at the Brooklyn Knights before playing their first home game at St. Anthony's High School (South Huntington, NY) on May 16 against the Vermont Voltage at 6 p.m. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit the Rough Riders website at:
