HOLMAN NAMED GOHOFSTRA.COM PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Hempstead, NY - Hofstra junior midfielder Tim Holman has been named the GoHofstra.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending May 16, it was announced today.

Holman, a short-stick defensive midfielder, had a career-best offensive day and a solid defensive game in the Pride's 11-8 loss to #3 Maryland in the first round of the 2010 NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship last Saturday afternoon.

The Garden City, New York native, who entered the Maryland contest with one goal and one assist to his credit in 34 games over his three-year tenure, posted career-highs of two goals and two assists against the Terrapins. He tallied his first goal of the season and the second of his career at the 8:40 mark of the third quarter that gave the Pride a 5-4 lead. Holman's second goal, right off the face-off in the fourth quarter closed the Hofstra deficit to 7-6. He later assisted on Jay Card's third and fourth goals of the game in the final 1:11 of the game.

In addition to his offensive outburst, Holman also picked up four ground balls and forced one turnover against Maryland. He concludes his junior season with two goals, three assists, 32 ground balls and 12 forced turnovers in 14 games.
