Cassara is entering his first season as the Hofstra Men's Basketball head coach, after spending the last four years as an assistant at Boston College. He inherits a team that includes Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Player of the Year and two-time Haggerty Award winner Charles Jenkins, who is the sixth-highest returning scorer in the country (20.6 ppg). All-time leading shot-blocker Greg Washington is also back to anchor the frontcourt for his senior year, after blocking a school record 92 shots last winter. The Pride will meet perennial power North Carolina at the Puerto Rico Tip-Off in its first Division I game of the year on Thursday, November 18.
Now entering her fifth season at the helm of the Hofstra Women's Basketball program, Krista Kilburn-Steveskey has compiled 67 victories in her career. This past season, Kilburn-Steveskey guided the Pride to a 20-win campaign and an appearance in the second round of the Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT). It marked the second 20-win season in her four years at Hofstra and the second WNIT appearance as well. The Pride welcomes back a slew of talented returnees in 2010-11, led by second team All-CAA performer Shante Evans. Hofstra opens the season on November 12 when they host Virginia. The Cavaliers, a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference, made their third consecutive and 24th appearance overall in the NCAA Tournament a season ago.
