Hempstead, NY - Before heading on the road for its next seven matches, the Hofstra Volleyball team will host Iona College at 7 p.m. on Wednesday to end its season-opening four-match homestand.
Following the encounter with the Gaels, Hofstra will head to the Thunder Invitational Tourney at Marshall University this weekend where they will face Cleveland State, High Point and the host Thundering Herd.
Hofstra brings an 0-3 mark into Wednesday's contest as the Pride dropped all three matches at the Hofstra/Asics Invitational this past weekend. Sophomore middle blocker Carolyn Jenkins earned all-tournament honors for the Pride after leading the team with 35 kills, five blocks and a .254 hitting percentage.
Sophomore libero Kylee Maneja posted a team-best 38 digs during the opening weekend, while senior setter Rachel August dished out 81 assists in the three matches.
Hofstra is 8-0 all-time against Iona, with the two squads last meeting in 2004 (Hofstra 3-1 win).
The Gaels are 2-1 this season having defeated Fairleigh Dickinson and Army, while dropping a four-set match to St. John's. Theresa Harvey leads the way with 39 kills, while Colleen Genett has 33. Alyssa Erickson is tops on the Gaels with 111 assists, while also adding 38 digs. Allison Nieters has 50 digs to rank first on Iona.
