Huntington, WV - Kara Koch had a match-high 14 kills and Jackie Dabbelt added 10 kills to lead Cleveland State to a three-set victory over Hofstra on Saturday morning at the Thunder Invitational Tourney.
Sophomore middle blocker Carolyn Jenkins led Hofstra with nine kills in the match and redshirt freshman Nikki Kinnier added seven.
Cleveland State improved to 5-0 with the 25-9, 25-21, 25-21 victory, while Hofstra slips to 1-5 with the loss.
The first set was all Vikings as CSU hit at a .368 clip, while holding Hofstra to a negative .296 attack percentage.
Hofstra would battle back in the next two sets as they lost narrow 25-21 decisions in both the second and third set.
The Pride had its best offensive showing the third and final stanza as they managed 14 kills on 24 attempts with just three errors for a .458 hitting percentage.
Senior setter Rachel August had 17 assists for the Pride, while sophomore libero Kylee Maneja picked up a team-best seven digs in the match.
Hofstra closes play at the Thunder Invitational Tourney with a 5 p.m. match against High Point.
