Hempstead, N.Y. - Senior forward Salma Tarik (Bellmore, N.Y.) was named the Colonial Athletic Association Women's Soccer Co-Player of the Week for the second time this season, and freshman midfielder Amber Stobbs (London, England) was named the CAA Rookie of the Week, it was announced today by the league office.

In addition, Tarik was named to the National Team of the Week by Top Drawer Soccer, and earned the Player of the Week honor from Big Apple Soccer, the second time this season she has won both of those honors as well.

Tarik had a big weekend to help the Pride sweep its two conference home games in convincing fashion, defeating Towson 4-1 on Friday and George Mason 5-0 on Sunday. She had two goals and an assist in the Towson win, the third time this season that she has scored two goals in a game (after also doing it against Rhode Island and Purdue). She then added a goal in the win over George Mason on Sunday to increase Hofstra's school-record winning streak to 12 games.

Stobbs, meanwhile, assisted on the second Tarik goal against Towson on Friday, and scored a key goal in the George Mason game in the 35th minute on a strong individual effort. She took a long diagonal pass from senior defender Dana Bergstrom (Billerica, Mass.), touched the ball through two George Mason defenders, and then sped around them for a breakaway into the box. That goal stretched Hofstra's lead to 2-0, and she also hustled back on defense to break up a potential scoring opportunity for George Mason in the closing minutes of the first half to keep the momentum on Hofstra's side heading into the break.

Stobbs becomes the fifth different Hofstra player honored by the CAA this season. Tarik (twice), junior midfielder Courtney Breen (Hicksville, N.Y.) and sophomore defender Amy Turner (Stocksbridge, England) have each won the CAA Player of the Week honor this season, while Stobbs and freshman forward Krysti Rodriguez (Ashburn, Va.) have each earned the Rookie of the Week award.

Hofstra will next be in action when it puts its school-record 12-game winning streak to the test with a tough road game against William & Mary on Friday at 7 p.m.
