Hempstead, NY - Senior outfielder Danny Poma has been selected to the 2012 Colonial Athletic Association Preseason All-Conference Team it was announced today by the league office.
Poma led Hofstra and finished second in the CAA in batting average at .382 and also added 28 RBI and 20 stolen bases. He was a first team all-conference selection in 2011 and was also named to the ABCA All-Region team as well.
Old Dominion shortstop Josh Wright was named the CAA Preseason Player of the Year after batting .369 with 12 home runs, 44 RBI and 18 stolen bases as a junior in 2011.
The Pride, who open the season on February 17 at Florida State, were picked to finish 10th in the CAA's Preseason Coaches Poll. James Madison was selected by the coaches to win the league. The Dukes received five first-place votes and finished atop the poll with 94 points. UNCW garnered two first-place votes and was close behind in second with 88 points. Old Dominion got two first-place tallies and was chosen third with 76 points and Georgia State also got two first-place votes and was fourth with 74 points. VCU placed fifth in the voting, followed by George Mason, Delaware and William & Mary (tied for 7th), Towson, Hofstra and Northeastern.
