Hempstead, N.Y. - Junior shortstop Becca Bigler was named the GoHofstra.com Student Athlete of the Week for the period ending May 13.

Bigler (Bainbridge, Pa./Elizabethtown) played an important role in helping Hofstra win all three of its Colonial Athletic Association Tournament games, batting .667 (6-for-9) with two home runs, four RBIs and three runs scored in helping the Pride capture its ninth CAA championship in 11 seasons.

Bigler smashed two home runs in the title game against Georgia State as Hofstra overcome a one-run first-inning deficit en route to a 9-1 victory over the Panthers. Bigler went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBIs on the day. For the season, she is batting .325 and is tied for the league lead in home runs with 11 (matching teammate Tessa Ziemba). Bigler was named to the CAA All-Tournament team for her efforts.
