Annapolis, MD - The doubles team of Louise Lopez and Sonia Tsay advanced to the semifinals of the B Doubles Flight to highlight day one of the Navy Blue and Gold Invitational. In addition, Lopez won her opening round singles match.

Lopez and Tsay defeated Carrie Laskey and Kristy Yau of Navy, 8-3, in the round of 16 and then defeated Heidi Danielsson/Shannon Cleary of UMBC, 8-2, in the quarterfinals.

The team of Sarah Bowen and Malissa Gilanchi, competing at the A Flight, won their first round match against Towson's Ayana Dow and Ariel Burke, 8-4. The duo then lost to Gabrielle Catanzarati/Kimmy Borza  of Pittsburgh, 9-8 (2), in the quarterfinals.

The team of Bianca Derrick and Paige Polizois lost their opening match at the B Flight, falling to Navy's Darien Sears and Cassandra Fisbeck, 8-1.

The Pride did not fare well in singles as Lopez was the only player to win their opening round match. The freshman defeated Blair Brown of Pittsburgh, 6-3, 6-1 to advance in the D Flight.

The Blue and Gold Invitational continues Saturday.
