Hempstead, NY - Hofstra University Women's Golf Coach Maren Crowley today announced the signings of Jacquie Faldetta and Victoria Snak to
National Letters of Intent. The pair will begin their collegiate careers at
Hofstra in the Fall 2013.
"I am very excited to have Victoria and Jacquie join the Hofstra
Women's Golf roster next fall," said Crowley. "They are two of the best players
in the Metropolitan PGA section and it's exciting to recruit more local talent
to our program. Both players will contribute to the further growth and success
of our program."
Faldetta, who is enrolled in the K12 International Academy
and the Mike Bender Golf Academy in Florida, spent her junior season at Lake
Mary (FL) Prep. In her one season, she helped her team to the 2011 Florida
Class 1A District 10 Championship and placed third overall as an individual.
She was the recipient of the Coach's Award and was a member of Lake Mary's
Dean's List. A native of Manhattan, Faldetta began her high school career at
Leman Manhattan Preparatory School.
Faldetta also plays in many American Junior Golf Association
and Metropolitan PGA Junior events, recently winning a Met PGA Junior Future
Series Tournament at Bethpage Red.
Snak is currently a senior at Smithtown West High School on
Long Island where she has been a member of the varsity golf team since she was
in seventh grade. She has been a five-time All-Suffolk County and all-league
selection, and has been selected to the All-New York State team in 2009, 2010
and 2012. She was an All-Long Island second team selection by Newsday in 2010
and 2011, and has been Most Valuable Player of her team in each of the last
three seasons. Snak placed third at the 2010 New York State Championship and
held the lowest scoring average in Suffolk County in 2011 and 2012. She also
holds a Smithtown West record for most appearances in the New York State
Championship with five entering her senior campaign this spring. A member of
two Suffolk County Championship teams (2008, 2009), Snak is also a stellar
student as she is a member of the National Honor Society the National German
Honor Society, the National English Honor Society and the National Media Arts
Honor Society, as well as an AP Scholar with Distinction.
Also active on the amateur circuit, Snak was very successful
this past summer on the Met PGA Junior Tour as she won two events (Sunken
Meadow and West Sayville) and was in the top three at five other competitions.
