Interview
Questions:
QUESTION: Why did you choose to attend Hofstra
University?
LUKE VAITH: I
chose Hofstra because it was a good fit and a good opportunity for me to
develop, both as an athlete and as a student.
Q: What has it meant
to be a member of the Hofstra Wrestling program and to compete for your head
coach, Rob Anspach?
VAITH: It has been a great experience and
has meant a lot to compete for Hofstra University's wrestling program and Coach
Anspach. This program has such a long and successful tradition in collegiate
wrestling.
Q: What has been your most memorable athletic
achievement?
VAITH: The
most memorable achievement so far would have to be winning the CAA championship
in my weight class and the team winning the league title too, as well as
competing in the NCAA tournament.
Q: How did you make your decision on
what major to choose?
VAITH: At
first I was not completely sure, but after taking a few business classes, I
realized what I wanted to do. So I decided to pursue a double major in
marketing and management.
Q: What does it take to
be a successful student while competing as a Division I student-athlete?
VAITH: It takes a lot to be a
student-athlete but the most important skills are time management and having a positive
attitude.
Q: How has community
service involvement positively impacted your development as an individual?
VAITH: It has taught me there are many people
who are in need and it is now my opportunity to give back to the communities,
who have not only supported me, but also Hofstra and the Athletics Department.
Q: What kinds of aspirations
do you have for competing at the next level, it any?
VAITH: I haven't decided if I am
going to pursue a career in wrestling. I am still focused on completing my college
wrestling career.
Q: What is your
definition of a leader?
VAITH: Someone who can enter most
situations and is always level-headed and inspirational.
