BB: Hofstra Heads To Northeastern For Key Conference Series

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra baseball team will look to keep up its winning ways as it heads to Boston, Massachusetts, for a key three-game Colonial Athletic Association series with the Huskies this weekend. Hofstra (13-16, 3-6 CAA), which swept George Mason last weekend for its first three CAA wins, trails Northeastern (16-12, 5-7 CAA) by two games in the win column.

Hofstra's eight-game winning streak is the longest since the 1995 season and is just two off the school record, which was set in 1960.

Hofstra will start junior David D'Errico (1-1, 6.43) in game one Friday afternoon. Senior Joe Burg (3-2, 4.24) will make the start Saturday, while junior Chris Harkey moves into the rotation for Sunday's finale. Harkey is 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA in four relief appearances.

The Huskies will once again go with the their weekend rotation of freshman Nick Cubarney (3-1, 1.66) on Friday, sophomore Nick Berger (3-4, 3.40) on Saturday and senior Kevin Ferguson (4-2, 2.01) on Sunday. Northeastern currently leads the CAA in pitching with a 3.07 team ERA.

The Pride offense has been bolstered by the outstanding play of junior catcher Matt Reistetter, the reigning CAA Player of the Week. Reistetter carries a 12-game hitting streak into the weekend and is batting .343 overall with two home runs and a career-best 25 RBIs. Junior Kenny Jackson is batting .330 with four home runs, while senior Chris Nardo is hitting .375 with 12 RBIs and has reached base in 15 straight games.

Following the weekend series, Hofstra will travel to Monmouth on Tuesday and St. John's on Wednesday.
