Hempstead, NY - After seeing a nine-game winning streak snapped Saturday, the Hofstra Baseball team will look to end a two-game losing skid when it travels to Monmouth Tuesday afternoon. The Pride will then face St. John's Wednesday in Queens. That game is a makeup game from one that was rained March 12.
Hofstra (14-18) will be meeting Monmouth for the first time since the 2000 season when the Pride posted a 17-7 win. The Hawks (16-11) do hold a 3-2 edge in the all-time series, which began in 1966. Senior Jared Rogers (1-3) will start for Hofstra one week after being knocked out of his start against Manhattan after taking a line drive off the knee. Freshman Frank Trimarco, a Long Island native from Merrick, will make his first career start for Monmouth. Trimarco is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA in five relief appearances.
The Pride will look to get their offense back on track against the Hawks, though it could be a tall order against a staff that has a collective 3.89 ERA. Hofstra averaged nearly nine runs per game during the win streak, but has scored just two runs total in its last two losses.
On Wednesday, John Tiedemann (0-4) will make his first start since March 9. Matt Clancy (0-1) will start for the Red Storm. St. John's holds a 58-12 advantage in the all-time series with the Pride, which dates back to the 1948 season.
