Williamsburg, VA - Brett Koehler allowed one run on four hits over eight innings and Jackson Shaver knocked in five runs as William & Mary posted a 9-1 victory over Hofstra at Plumeri Park Saturday evening.

The Tribe opened the game by scoring four runs on five hits in the bottom of the first, chasing Pride starter Joe Burg (3-4) after just 2/3 of an inning. Michael Katz had a two-run double in the inning, while Ryan Hissey added a run-scoring double and Shaver chipped in with an RBI single.

Hofstra (23-23, 8-12 CAA) cut the deficit to three runs with a run in the third on a sacrifice fly from Kenny Jackson that scored Austin Nyman. But that was the only run the Pride offense would mount as they dropped their second straight contest to the Tribe (30-13, 13-7 CAA).

Shaver would add two more RBIs in the fifth with a single and then capped off a three-hit, five RBI day with a two-run double in the seventh. Katz would also add an additional RBI with a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning.

The Pride would use seven pitchers in the game with Graham Tebbit contributing 2 1/3 innings of hitless and scoreless relief. Tebbit struck out three batters in his outing. Andrew Barbarino also threw a perfect inning, striking out two.

Kevin Brantley, Jared Hammer, Robbie Cafiero and TJ Ehrsam collected hits for the Pride.

Koehler, who struck out six on the day, improved to 5-3 on the year.

The series concludes Sunday at 1 p.m.
