Hempstead, NY – Hofstra University Head Volleyball Coach Kristina Hernandez announced today the appointment of Angelina Waterman to the position of assistant coach.

“We are extremely excited to add Angelina to our program,” commented Hernandez.  “She was a very talented outside hitter at American and gained a lot of experience and knowledge playing overseas in Spain. She will work primarily with our outsides. We will look forward to watching the impact she will have on the future of our program."

A former American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Northeast Region selection, Waterman played at American University in Washington, DC.

While a member of the Eagles, Waterman helped the squad qualify for the NCAA Tournament three times and American won a total of 97 matches.

Waterman totaled 815 kills during her four-year career, including leading the squad with 361 kills during the 2009 campaign.  She also led the Eagles with 35 service aces that season.  In addition to her career kills total, Waterman notched 489 digs, 155 blocks, 82 service aces and 48 assists during her time at American.

Waterman played professionally in Spain for a year as she competed with the CV Jamper Aguere squad in La Laguna, Tenerife, Spain.

She has also assisted at the Gallaudet University CAMP SHARP.  She worked with deaf campers ranging in age from 3-7 during the summer of 2011.  In addition, Waterman has also worked with the Cerebral Palsy Transport (CPT) in Queens, NY and the Jamaica Group Home in Jamaica, NY.
