Hempstead, NY - The second annual "Reading With Pride" initiative took place this March, with Hofstra student-athletes visiting two local elementary schools in recognition of National Reading Month.  On Tuesday, March 2nd, student-athletes visited Jackson Main Elementary School in Hempstead and on Wednesday, March 17th, another visit was made to the Meadow Drive School in Albertson.

At each school, student-athletes promoted the importance of literacy and helped ignite an excitement for reading.  Athletes from women's basketball, softball, women's tennis, volleyball, baseball, men's basketball, men's cross country, men's lacrosse, men's soccer, and men's tennis all participated in the event.  If your organization or school would like to take part in the "Reading With Pride " initiative next year, please contact Annie Fiorvanti at 516-463-6749.
