Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra Women’s Lacrosse team will return to Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) play this weekend as the Pride travel to James Madison on Friday before closing the week with a road tilt at George Mason on Sunday.

The games will mark Hofstra’s return to conference action after opening CAA play back on March 1 with a 15-9 road win over Drexel.

Hofstra (2-8, 1-0 CAA) was last in action when it dropped a 15-9 decision to No. 14 Ohio State on March 29.

The Pride has had a balanced attack on offense as seven different players have at least 10 points this season, led by junior midfielder Jill Maier with 17 points on 15 goals and two assists.  Maier leads Hofstra in goals, while freshman midfielder Brittain Altomare leads Hofstra with eight assists and is second with 16 points.

Defensively, senior goalie has team-bests of 101 saves and 28 ground balls.  She missed the Ohio State game with an injury after starting the first nine games of the season.  Amongst field players, sophomore defender Jamie D'Arco has 22 ground balls and is second on the team with eight caused turnovers.  Junior midfielder Casey Kellogg leads Hofstra with nine caused turnovers.

James Madison is 5-5 overall and 1-0 in CAA play after a 16-6 win over George Mason on Saturday.  George Mason enters this weekend’s play with a 2-8 overall mark and a 0-1 conference ledger.
