Hempstead,  NY -  The Hofstra Men's Tennis team will square off against the Patriots of George Mason University on Thursday, April 19 in the first round of the Virginia 529 CAA Men's Tennis Championships at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center on the campus of Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. The 10-team CAA Men's Tennis Championship will run from April 19 through 22.

The men's championship gets underway on Thursday morning as eighth-seeded Delaware meets ninth-seed Drexel at 9 a.m., followed by Hofstra against George Mason at 11:30 a.m. The Pride, who have won their last two matches and four of their last five outings, enter the GMU match with a 7-8 overall record. The Patriots, who have also won their last two and four of their last five, are 16-7 on the season. George Mason is the seventh seed while the Pride are the 10th seed.


The Pride, who have just two seniors on the team in Tyler Allen and Jason Sinkoff, are led by freshman Ari Richman (Phoenix, AZ), who has posted a 10-6 overall record this season including an 8-1 mark at second singles. Sophomore Adrien Bailly (Paris, France) is 8-7 overall in 2011-12 including a 6-4 mark at fourth singles. Classmate Antonio Pena (Weston, FL) has posted a 10-11 mark including a 5-5 record at number one singles. Sophomore Matthew Gemmell (Mississauga, ONT, Canada) is 9-10 overall and 7-5 at third singles. Senior Jason Sinkoff (Solana Beach, CA) is 8-11 on the year and a combined 6-8 at fifth and sixth singles. Hofstra's doubles play is led by Bailly and Richman, who are 8-3 at number one doubles.


In quarterfinal action on Friday, #3 UNCW takes on #6 William & Mary at 8:30 a.m., followed by #2 Georgia State against the Mason/Hofstra winner at 11 a.m. The afternoon session begins with #1 VCU facing the Delaware/Drexel winner at 1:30 p.m. followed by #4 Old Dominion versus #5 James Madison at 4 p.m.


Both men's semifinal matches will be played at 10 a.m. on Saturday and the CAA men's championship match is set for 10 a.m. on Sunday.
