Philadelphia, PA - Ari Richman advanced to the consolation semifinals at the Saint Joseph's Invitational Saturday afternoon. Hofstra went 3-7 in singles action on the day.

Richman lost to Skyler Davis of Drexel 1-6, 6-3, 5-10 in the Flight 1 singles round of 16. In singles Flight 3, Matthew Gemmell won his round of 16 matchup with Devin Bostick of Saint Joseph's, 6-2, 6-2, before falling in the quarterfinals to Paul Staukas of Drexel, 3-6, 5-7. Also at third singles, Saint Joseph's Paranjay Malhotra defeated the Pride's Adrien Bailly after Bailly withdrew. Hofstra's Johan Vila lost his Flight 4 round of 16 match to Penn's Andrew Berman, 6-1, 5-7, 8-10. Pedro Gimenez also lost his round of 16 match at fourth singles, falling to Clark Ruiz of Saint Joseph's, 3-6, 1-6.

The Pride had several players compete in the consolation bracket as well. Richman advanced to the consolation semifinals at first single with a 6-2, 2-6, 10-7 win over Saint Joseph's Jose Sierra. Richman will face Villanova's Mark Miller Sunday at 10:30 a.m.

Antonio Pena went 1-1 at flight 2 singles, with a win over Lafayette's Scott Gelbman before losing to Bucknell's Kelly Morque, 5-7, 4-6, in a quarterfinal match. Gimenez lost his consolation match at fourth singles, falling 1-6, 2-6, to Army's Ron Varano.

Doubles matches scheduled for Saturday did not take place and will now take place on Sunday.
