Loudonville, NY - Ari Richman defeated Dylan Roberts, 4-6, 6-3 and 10-7 at No. 1 singles for what proved to be the decisive point as Hofstra picked up a 4-3 win over Siena Sunday afternoon.

Hofstra improves to 1-0 with the win, while Siena falls to 2-1 on the season.

Siena began the match by sweeping the three doubles matches. Ryan Schmitz and Eric Sumanaru won 9-8 (7-3) over Richman and Adrien Bailly at No. 1 doubles, Mike Amico and Alex Burbine combined for an 8-4 win at second doubles, and Roberts and Darren Reich won 8-6 at No. 3 doubles over Pedro Gimenez and Joe Erichsen.

In addition to Richman, Erichsen won a 3-6, 6-4 and 10-5 decision over George Parkhurst at No. 5 singles for the Pride, while Bailly posted a 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 win at third singles over Mike Amico. Matthew Gemmell had the other singles win for the Pride, a 6-2, 6-0, victory over Alex Burbine at fourth singles.

Hofstra returns to action at Fairleigh Dickinson on Wednesday.
