Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra Softball program will host its annual Alumnae Day on Saturday, October 13 at James M. Shuart Stadium.

In addition to the normal alumnae day festivities, the program is excited to announce it will unveil the 2012 outfield banner celebrating the team’s historic run to the NCAA Super Regionals.  In addition, all members of the 2012 squad will receive their championship rings to commemorate the postseason appearance.

The ceremony honoring the 2012 team will begin at 11:30 a.m., with the full day’s schedule listed below.

Following the presentations the 2013 edition of the Pride will take on the Hofstra Alumnae team.  All alumnae are asked to pay a $25 fee to cover the event and the alumnae day T-shirt. This will also go towards your membership in the Pride Club and support softball in the Former Athlete Participation Challenge.

Hofstra Softball would like to invite all softball fans to join the team at 11:30 to celebrate the 2012 season and stay for the alumni game that will follow.

Hofstra ended the 2012 campaign with a 42-15 record and the program's first-ever appearance in the Super Regionals, where the team finished just one win shy of the Women's College World Series. Head Coach Bill Edwards' team won its ninth Colonial Athletic Association championship in 11 years before knocking off 12-time national champion UCLA  and San Diego State twice to win the Los Angeles Regional.

The Pride set a school record with 21 straight victories, culminating with a victory over No. 19 South Florida in Game 1 of the Tampa Super Regional. Hofstra finished with a 40-win season for the sixth time in the last eight seasons, posting a 22-0 total record against CAA teams en route to the first undefeated conference showing in program history. Hofstra was ranked 16th in the final USA Today/NFCA Division I Top-25 poll.

Olivia Galati (West Babylon, N.Y.) went 34-7 while leading all Division I pitchers with a 0.95 ERA to become the first player in program history to earn a first-team NFCA All-America selection. Her 17 shutouts was tied for first nationally. The right-hander registered 378 strikeouts in 280.2 innings.
