Hamden, CT - The doubles teams of Ari Richman and Adrien Bailly, Antonio Pena and Joe Erichsen, and Pedro Gimenez and Matthew Gemmell each advanced to the quarterfinals of their respective flights at the Quinnipiac Invitational Friday afternoon.
Richman and Bailly defeated Wei Lin and Wayne Harrell of Connecticut, 8-6, in the "A" flight round of 16 before falling to Dana Parziale and Max Vogt of Bryant, 8-6, in the quarterfinals. Pena and Erichsen also competed at the "A" flight and won their first round match over Sebastian Barbero and Fahoum Fahoum of Quinnipiac, 8-1. The pair then dropped an 8-6 decision to Villanova's Kelly Donaldson and Thomas O'Brien in the quarterfinals.
Gimenez and Gemmell won their first round "B" flight match over Villanova's Max Levine and Mark Miller, 9-8 (2), before falling in the quarters to UConn's Andrew Ginzberg and Teddy Margules, 9-7.
The Pride's Ryhaan Gill also competed in doubles action on Friday, teaming with Alain Grullon of Quinnipiac. The makeshift duo defeated Bentley's Jimmy Rindo and Alex DeMuth, 9-8 (2), but saw their run come to an end with an 8-3 loss to Kevin Budrawich and Justin Pagan of Sacred Heart.
The Quinnipiac Invitational continues on Saturday with the start of singles play.
