Hempstead, NY -Pride freshman Sean Flannery will be the Hofstra Men's Cross Country team's lone representative at the 2012 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championship Northeast Regional in Connecticut this Friday, November 9. The 10K regional, jointly hosted by Yale University and Fairfield University, will be held at Hammonassett State Park in Madison, Connecticut at 1:15 p.m.

With a strong storm forecasted for the northeast on Wednesday night and Thursday, Flannery, a native of Brookline, New Hampshire, will be in touch with his New England upbringing as he runs his first collegiate 10K race in chilly conditions.

Flannery has led the Pride in four of their five meets this season including the 8K Colonial Athletic Association Cross Country Championship in Williamsburg, Virginia on October 27. In the CAA meet, he placed 40th in 29:26, cutting more than three minutes off his previous 8K time at the Metropolitan Championships and almost 30 seconds off his first 8K time at the NJIT Classic in mid-September.

Last year, current senior Daniel Rono, who is red-shirting this season, placed 71st to lead the Pride to a 26th place finish at the 2011 NCAA Division I Northeast Regional Cross Country Championship on the Audubon Golf Course in Buffalo, New York. Rono (Eldoret, Kenya) clocked a time of 32:59 on the 10K course. As a team, Hofstra finished tied with Colgate for 26th place with 718 points in the 33-team field. The Championship was won by Syracuse University, which placed all five of their scoring runners in the top 16 to post 54 points. Iona was second with 72 points while Columbia was third with 96 points. The individual champion was Iona's Leonard Korir, who clocked a time of 31:10.
