Hempstead,
NY - The Hofstra University Department of Athletics, in conjunction with The
School of Communication and WRHU, is excited to announce a new radio
partnership with WLIB 1190 AM for all 2012-13 Hofstra Men's Basketball road
games.
The broadcast schedule on WLIB will begin this Wednesday (Nov. 21), when
the Pride take on Manhattan College at 7 p.m.
"Hofstra's new relationship with WLIB, a powerful New York City commercial radio station, will elevate Hofstra Men's Basketball by providing a consistent and strong radio signal for our alumni and fans and simultaneously deliver valuable exposure for the University and athletics program," said Jeffrey A. Hathaway, Vice President and Director of Athletics. "Furthermore, we are excited to partner with the School of Communication led by Dean Cornog and our colleagues at WRHU to provide Hofstra's student broadcasters a fantastic educational experience to broadcast additional games on WLIB for the 2012-13 season."
WLIB's
30,000-watt signal will allow fans from the Midwest to the eastern end of Long
Island to listen to games easily and positions the Pride with other
metropolitan and major basketball programs that also feature partnerships with
New York City commercial radio stations.
"I'm excited for our program that our away games will be broadcast on a great
New York City station in WLIB," commented Head Men's Basketball Coach Mo Cassara. "Just as important, however, is knowing that our away games will
serve as a terrific opportunity to promote Hofstra University and our men's
basketball program to our loyal alumni, our passionate Hofstra fans as well as
metropolitan New York City sports fans. Great programs have great support
and this is another wonderful opportunity to take a step forward in building a
complete basketball program."
