Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra Men’s Basketball team will head to George Washington on Saturday to take on the Colonials.  Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.

Hofstra (3-3) has won three of its last four games but dropped a 67-56 decision at Manhattan on Wednesday evening in its last contest.  Sophomore guard Taran Buie continues to impress early in his Hofstra career as he poured in a team-high 22 points, including 10-13 from the charity stripe, to lead the Pride in scoring.  Buie also added six rebounds, while freshman forward Jimmy Hall chipped in with 12 points and 10 rebounds for the third double-double of his young career.

Through six games in 2012-13, Hofstra is a perfect 3-0 at home and 0-3 away and the Pride will look to change those fortunes on Saturday when it takes on George Washington.

The Colonials are 1-2 this season with a win over Boston University and losses to Youngstown State and Notre Dame.  GW fell to the Fighting Irish on Wednesday night in South Bend by the score of 65-48.  Isaiah Armwood, who had 12 points against Notre Dame, leads George Washington with 12 points per game.  Joe McDonald also scores in double figures, averaging 11.3 per contest.

Buie took over the scoring lead for the Pride with his 22-point effort against the Jaspers as he now leads the way with 14.3 points per outing this year.  He is joined in double figures by Hall (12.7), sophomore guard Shaquille Stokes (11.3) and senior guard Stevie Mejia (11.2).  Hall nearly averages a double-double with 9.7 caroms per game.  Mejia and Stokes are tops on the squad in assists with 20 and 16, respectively.

Hofstra and George Washington have only met one time in their history, with the Pride earning an 82-67 victory over the Colonials during the 1982-83 campaign.  The game was a neutral site contest, taking place at the Juice Bowl at Florida Southern.
