Hempstead, NY - Noel Thompson, a 2004 graduate of Hofstra and a two-time Colonial Athletic Association champion, was named team leader for the 2013 United States Women's Team by USA Wrestling. He will serve as team leader at the 2013 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, and remain on the Team USA leadership staff for the four-year Olympic Cycle that concludes with the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Thompson was a member of the Pride wrestling team for five seasons from 1999 through 2004 and was a four-time NCAA Qualifier (2000, 2001, 2003, 2004). He was seeded eight at 165-pounds in 2003 and 10th at 174 pounds in 2004. Thompson also earned New York State Freshman of the Year accolades in 2000.
Since graduating from Hofstra, Thompson has been a member of the Hofstra Pride Club Board as well as serving as the wrestling chairman for the New York Athletic Club. He is also a board member for the Beat the Streets program in New York City and serves on the Board of Governors of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.
A native of Freeport, New York, Thompson serves as CEO and Chief Investment Officer for Thompson Global LP in Manhattan.
