Newark, NJ - Paige Polizois had the only win of the match for the Pride, a three-set victory at sixth singles, as Hofstra dropped a 6-1 decision to NJIT Saturday.
The Highlanders won the doubles point by taking the first two matches as Ksenia Kuzmenko and Luste posted an 8-1 win over Sarah Bowen and Malissa Gilanchi at first doubles. Carolina Zanotta and Natalia Melibeu then won at second doubles, 8-3, over Louise Lopez and Sonia Tsay.
NJIT would sweep the first five singles matches and appeared to be poised for the clean sweep as Polizois dropped the first set, 0-6, to Hannelore MacDonald before rallying to win 7-6 (5) and 10-7 in the next two sets.
Hofstra returns to action next Saturday when it hosts Drexel at Sportime in Lynbrook at 5 p.m.
