Lynbrook, NY - Hofstra won four singles matches and two of three doubles matches en route to a 5-2 win over Drexel Saturday night at Sportime.
Hofstra improves to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in league play. Drexel falls to 7-4, 1-1 in the CAA.
The Pride's top two doubles teams both won to clinch the doubles point for Hofstra. Sarah Bowen and Malissa Gilanchi posted an 8-1 win over Zenyep Mofa and Marcela Rosales at first doubles. Sonia Tsay and Louise Lopez then battled Nicole Pivonka and Emma Brook at second doubles with the Pride team prevailing, 9-8 (7-4).
Bowen, Gilanchi and Lopez also won their respective singles matches with Bowen posting a 6-2, 6-7, 6-3 win over Pivonka at second singles. Gilanchi also went to three sets with Rosales, taking a 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 win at third singles. Lopez won her fourth singles match against Brook in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2. Paige Polizois was Hofstra's fourth singles winner as she recorded a 6-4, 6-2 win over Aysenil Orhon at sixth singles.
Hofstra returns to action on March 26 when it hosts St. Francis (NY) at 12:30 p.m.
