Student-athletes were given the opportunity to meet with companies of their choice for 15-20 minutes. Each student had the chance to select as many company as they would like to meet with on this evening. All were professionally dressed, with their resumes in hand, ready to impress employers and network for both internships and full-time job opportunities.
Julia Riemer, a junior on the Pride women’s lacrosse team, had a very positive experience. “ The evening helped me get my interview jitters out," said Riemer. "I was able to meet with a couple of potential employers and I came away with an offer for an internship this summer.”
Student-athletes were well prepared for the event, having been taken through a number of professional development workshops earlier this year. Topics they have been introduced to have included resume building, interviewing and networking skills, along with a variety of other advice for professional encounters. Companies represented at Catch-a-Career included the United States Federal Government, the Cintas Corporation, TD Bank, CA Technologies, Grant Thornton, Stryker, Northwestern Mutual and NY Life, among others.
