Hempstead, N.Y. – Hofstra senior guard Annie Payton was named the GoHofstra.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending Feb. 17, it was announced today.

Payton set a career high with 27 points coming off the bench against the College of Charleston in Hofstra’s only game of the week. The Camden, N.J. native connected on a trio of three-pointers and was 12-of-13 from the free throw line. Payton also added four steals and two rebounds in 26 minutes.

Her point production was a single-season high for a Hofstra player in 2013-14; besting Anma Onyeuku’s 23-point outing versus Fordham on Nov. 15. Payton and Onyeuku are the two Pride players to average at least 11 points with Payton registering a team-leading 11.8 PPG despite playing as a reserve in 12 of 22 games.

Hofstra will return to action on Thursday when the Pride hosts Northeastern in a Colonial Athletic Association matchup at 7 p.m. from the Mack Sports Complex.
