Tallahassee, FL - Gary Merians allowed two hits over five innings and four FSU relievers held Hofstra in check the rest of the way in a 7-0 win by the eighth-ranked Seminoles Sunday afternoon at Dick Howser Stadium. The win completes a three-game sweep for the Seminoles and improves their record to 7-0. Hofstra drops to 0-6 with the loss.

Jayce Boyd gave Florida State all it would need as he had a run-scoring single in the first inning off of Hofstra starter David D'Errico (0-2). The Seminoles tacked on a second run in the second as Sherman Johnson had an RBI single. Johnson would finish the day 4-4 at the plate.

Florida State would add two runs in the fourth and three in the eighth to complete the scoring. Merians (2-0) allowed two hits and three walks in his five innings. Taylor Stuart recorded both hits for the Pride. He also had two stolen bases on the day.

Hofstra returns to action next weekend with a pair of doubleheaders at Norfolk State.
