Hempstead, NY - Due to winter weather that forced the cancellation of Hofstra's home-opening weekend against Iona and Albany, the Pride will travel to North Carolna for a neutral site three-game series against the Nittany Lions of Penn State University. The games will be played in Asheboro, NC, at McCrary Park - home of the Asheboro Copperheads of the Coastal Plains League. The teams play a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m. and a single game Sundat at Noon.

The Pride (1-3) is coming off a series at Grand Canyon University, that saw the team win one of four games. Junior Eric Ferguson and senior Kenny Jackson have led the Pride offense through the first four contests. Ferguson is batting .412 with seven hits, five runs, three RBIs and two stolen bases, and has hit safely in all four games this year. Jackson, who owns a nine-game hitting streak dating back to last season, is batting .375 with two doubles, an RBI and two stolen bases. Senior Dalton Rouleau is batting .250 with a double and two RBIs. Junior utilityman Brian MacDonald has a .429 average in seven at-bats and is tied for team lead with two doubles.

Junior Dave Jesch has posted the Pride's lone victory, picking up the win with four innings of relief work in a 7-5 win over the Antelopes. Senior Brett Schreiber notched the save, the 10th of his career, leaving him four behind Jeff Denlea for the all-time mark at Hofstra. Senior Graham Tebbit has made two appearances without allowing a run, while MacDonald has one scoreless inning under his belt.

Penn State enters the weekend with a 2-4 mark after taking two of three at Gardner Webb and losing a three-game series at South Florida. James Coates leads the Nittany Lions with a .316 average and six runs scored, while Steve Snyder is batting .300 with two doubles and three RBIs. Jack Anderson has picked up both Penn State wins in relief and has not allowed an earned run in three appearances totaling five innings.

Junior Nick Kozlowski (0-1, 12.46) will start the opener for Hofstra against Greg Welsh (0-1, 20.25). Jesh (1-0, 6.75) will start game two against Penn State's T.J. Jann (0-0, 4.22). Sophomore Alec Eisenberg (0-0, 6.00) will start the finale and be opposed by Patton Taylor (0-0, 3.27).

The series marks a homecoming of sorts for Jackson, Rouleau and Schreiber as the three played for the Copperheads this past summer.
