Hempstead, NY – Hofstra University sophomore guard Shaquille Stokes (Harlem, NY/Lincoln) was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Co-Player of the Week, while freshman forward Jimmy Hall (Brooklyn, NY/St. Anthony) earned CAA Rookie of the Week honors, it was announced by the conference office this afternoon.
Stokes shared the award with Jerrelle Benimon of Towson.
Stokes averaged 15.3 points and 5.0 assists as Hofstra went 3-0 in the 2k Sports Classic subregional. The sophomore guard nailed a game-winning 3-pointer with 3 seconds left as the Pride beat defending Summit League champ South Dakota State 66-63. He also scored 10 of his career-high 26 points in double OT as Hofstra edged Marshall 103-100 on Sunday.
Hall averaged 12.0 points and 10.3 rebounds in Hofstra’s 3-0 week. The freshman forward recorded a double-double with 12 points and a team-high 14 rebounds in the Pride’s 103-100 win over Marshall on Sunday and had eight points and nine boards in a 66-63 victory over South Dakota State. For the week, Hall shot 52% from the floor and also blocked five shots.
Hofstra (3-2) returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to Manhattan for a 7 p.m. contest.
