Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra Men’s Basketball team will host Wright State on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the squad’s final home game of the 2012 calendar year.

Hofstra will continue to be in a “New York State of Mind” through the month of December as all five of the Pride’s games this month are in New York with three at home and two in Brooklyn (one at LIU and one at the Barclays Center).

Following the contest against the Raiders on Saturday, Hofstra will close the 2012 year with a game at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY against Tulane on December 22 at 3 p.m.  The game is part of a tripleheader at the new home of the Brooklyn Nets.

Hofstra gave a great effort in its last game before ultimately dropping a narrow 88-84 decision to LIU Brooklyn on Saturday.  Sophomore guard Taran Buie was on fire all afternoon against the Blackbirds as he poured in a game and career-high 29 points on 10-17 shooting from the field.

Hofstra (3-7) will look to snap a five-game losing skid when it takes on a Wright State squad that enters Saturday’s game sporting a 6-3 record.  The Raiders have won two of their last three games, including a 92-59 victory over VMI on Saturday.  Cole Darling leads Wright State in scoring with 11.8 points per game and is followed by Miles Dixon (10.0) and Reggie Arceneaux (9.9).

Buie upped his team-leading scoring average to 15.9 points per game with his 29-point outburst against LIU.  Junior forward Stephen Nwaukoni, who had 12 points and seven rebounds against the Blackbirds, leads the Pride with 7.3 rebounds per contest and is also averaging 5.9 points.  Senior guard Stevie Mejia is second on the team with 10.3 points after chipping in with 13 in Hofstra’s last game.

Hofstra and Wright State have only met once previously with the Raiders earning an 82-56 victory over the Pride during the 2010-11 campaign.  That came was part of the ESPN BracketBusters and Saturday’s game marks the return game from that meeting.
