Richmond, VA - Hofstra freshman attack Sam Llinares has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Men's Lacrosse co-Rookie of the Week for the period ending Sunday, February 17, the conference announced Monday.

Linares, a native of Hauppauge, New York, tallied four goals and one assist in his collegiate debut in the Pride's 14-9 victory over Sacred Heart Saturday afternoon.  The former Under Armour and US Lacrosse All-American out of Hauppauge High School, opened the Hofstra scoring for the season with a goal just 3:35 into the contest. The CAA also announced that Penn State junior attack Shane Sturgis was named the CAA Player of the Week after scoring four goals in the 15th-ranked Nittany Lions' 15-12 win over ninth-ranked Denver.
