Hempstead, NY - David Imes scored 15 of his team-high 18 points in the second half and Stevie Mejia added a double-double with 10 points and a career-best 10 assists as Hofstra snapped a four-game losing streak with a 70-59 win over Old Dominion Sunday night at the Mack Sports Complex.The Pride had four players score in double-figures in the victory.

Hofstra improves to 7-22, 4-12 in the Colonial Athletic Association with the win, while Old Dominion slips to 4-24, 2-14 in the CAA with the loss.

Both teams started out slow as nearly two minutes went by without a basket but once ODU took a 2-0 lead, Hofstra went on a 10-2 run highlighted by dunks from Jordan Allen and Moussa Kone to take a 10-4 lead with 14:51 to play. The Pride would build the lead to 10 points, 18-8 on a Mejia three-pointer with 10:49 remaining.

But the Monarchs would respond with a 13-2 run over the next 3:33 to take a 21-20 lead with7:16 to play. Dimitri Batten scored nine straight points in the run. Hofstra responded once again with a 7-0 run, as Taran Buie drained consecutive three pointers and Darren Payen contributed a free throw. That gave the Pride a 27-21 lead with 4:25 to play.

Old Dominion would close the half on a 10-3 run to take a 31-30 lead at halftime. Five different players scored for the Monarchs during the run.

Hofstra shot 44 percent in the half compared to 41 percent for Old Dominion. The Monarchs did control the glass in the opening 20 minutes with a 21-9 lead. ODU had 11 offensive rebounds leading to 17 second chance points.

The start of the second half was the Imes show as the senior scored 13 of Hofstra's first 18 points as the Pride built a 48-40 lead with 12:41 to play. The Pride would match their largest lead of the game at the time (10 points), 50-40, before ODU went on an 8-0 run on five straight points from Keenan Palmore and a three pointer from Batten to make it a 50-48 game with 8:59 remaining.   

But Hofstra would seal the game with a 14-1 run to take a 64-49 lead. Daquan Brown and Allen (two dunks) each had four points in the decisive run. The Monarchs would cut their deficit to nine with a 6-0 run before Hofstra scored four consecutive points to go back up by 13, 68-55, before settling for the 11-point win.

Hofstra had balanced scoring as four players scored in double-figures with Buie (15 points) and Allen (10 points) joining Imes and Mejia. Brown had a team and career-high 11 rebounds for the Pride. The Pride battled ODU on the boards in the second half, holding a 25-22 edge in the final 20 minutes.

Batten led all scorers with 19 points and DeShawn Painter had a game-high 13 rebounds.

The Pride won the turnover battle and scored 23 points off of ODU's 19 turnovers. Hofstra had just 10 turnovers in the contest.
