What brought you to Hofstra originally?:
At the time, I was interested in a career in education, specifically Physical Education. I had started out at Queens College (of CUNY) but during the mid-70's the city developed extreme financial problems resulting in the elimination of my major at Queens. Coming from a working class family in Queens, I was looking for a private, affordable, quality university that was within commuting distance of my home. Hofstra filled the bill perfectly. I was also interested in continuing my participation in Field Hockey, which I was able to do at Hofstra.

Why are you still involved in Hofstra Athletics?:
Primarily because I am extremely grateful to the university, my coaches and my teammates. Participating in varsity athletics, especially Women's Lacrosse had a profound impact on my life that I believe has continued to benefit me since that time.

What was the most impactful lesson you learned while at Hofstra?:
I learned discipline. Participation in the Hofstra intercollegiate athletics program taught me to manage my time both on and off the field. It also taught me about team work and perseverance.

What is one piece of advice you have for current student-athletes?:
Find something that you are passionate about and pursue it.

Who was your coach and what wisdom did they impart on you?:
Although I had several coaches (as I played on several varsity teams) Muffy Smith (Dr. Smith) was clearly MY coach. Her dedication to our early Lacrosse team (mind you, many of us had never played before coming to Hofstra) made me want to work as hard as I could to improve my skills. While I was short on patience (as a goal keeper watching way too many shots on goal show up on the scoreboard for the opposing team) Muffy remained calm and patient with me. Her patience as a coach and teacher served as an example that I strive toward today (fortunately with greater success than in my undergraduate college years).

Why do you give back to Hofstra Athletics?:
I give back to Hofstra athletics because I think that supporting something that was so meaningful in my development is important. I would like to see that as many other young women are able to reap the benefits that I did, as possible.

When was the last time you visited campus?:
Last April (2010) I visited for a weekend during which I had the pleasure of seeing our women's Lax team win two games on their home turf. I also was afforded the opportunity to see our men's Lax team win at the new Meadowlands Stadium.

Do you still keep in touch with your teammates?:
Sadly, not too many, primarily because I moved out of the area and did not take the time to come back and visit. I truly enjoyed reconnecting with several of my old teammates (and we are now "older" teammates) during my visit back to Hofstra last April.

What is the fondest memory of your Hofstra experience?:
Without a doubt, the three years that I played on the women's Lacrosse team would be my fondest memory. Within that experience, I think that my fondest memories were of the Spring Break team trips that we took (driving in minivans) to play teams in warmer climates (Virginia) during my junior and senior years. We ate for probably $10/day (or less) and slept in sleeping bags on the floor of a farmhouse outside of Charlottesville, that belonged to the parents of one of our teammates.
