What brought you to Hofstra originally?:
I have a MBA from Hofstra and my wife Kathi has a master's in Education from Hofstra.
Why did you get involved in Hofstra Athletics originally and why are you still involved today?:
With four children, we were looking for a family activity on Sunday afternoon. We began going to Hofstra men's basketball games (circa 1994) and found it to be a great experience. Our four kids "grew up" on Hofstra basketball. When the new arena was opened, we got six season tickets. As our children got older and moved away, we still have four season tickets and when they come back home, Hofstra basketball is always on the agenda. We even brought our 2 week old grandson to a game! The arena is 10 minutes from our house, the tickets are a great value and the folks in the Athletic Department have made us feel part of the Hofstra family.
What was the most impactful lesson you learned while at Hofstra?:
As it relates to watching basketball, you don't have to travel to Madison Square Garden to watch competitive basketball. "There's no place like home..."
What is the fondest memory of your Hofstra experience?:
The two America East championship games in the arena, the victories in the Holiday Tournament, the NIT win over Nebraska... And, every year senior day, where you see the culmination of student-athletes who came in as nervous freshmen and graduate as young men. Seeing the proud expressions on the faces of their families gives special meaning to college athletics.
When was the last time you visited campus?:
We've only missed one or two men's basketball home games in the past 10 or 15 years...
Why do you give back to Hofstra Athletics?:
Because Hofstra Athletics gives so much to me, my wife Kathi and our family. My 26 year old daughter still remembers her crush on Lars Grubler, my 23 year old son lives in Philadelphia and still follows the team closely (we go to the CAA tournament together each year) and my 30 year old daughter who lives in Chicago brought my grandson and her husband to a Hofstra game when the baby was two weeks old!
