Cornell Head Coach Jeff Tambroni:

”It was nothing short of a slugfest. Our guys did a good job in the first half. .Princeton made it difficult for us in the second half, but it was nice to see our defense step up and send us to the Final Four.”

On Princeton: “They are as good of a team as any in the country. Their goalie plays beyond his years. Princeton will put the fear in any coach, but I told our guys that it’s going to take a lot of intangibles and one of them was heart. I told them there’s very little that separates the two teams.”

On the number of goals scored: “Both defensive schemes made it tough for the stars. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a game with such talented offenses record so few shots on goal.”

On Rob Pannell: “He did a great job. Because of the way they were playing him, we decided to have him dodge from up top. He managed the offense as well as a freshman can do.”

Cornell midfielder Max Seibald:

On going back to the Final Four: “To be one of four left means a lot. We’ve earned 60 more minutes to try to earn 60 more. We still have business to take care of, but we’ll enjoy tonight.”

“It’s a great feeling today. We relied on our defense. We got great leadership from them. We struggled scoring in the second half against Hobart and still won. Our defense stayed consistent and made the plays.”

Cornell long stick midfielder Pierce Derkac:

On the defense: “Coach DeLuca was harping on communication, and its grown in the last few weeks. The defense always trickles down to the underclassmen. We’re starting to gel at the right time, and it’s exciting.”

Cornell defenseman Matt Moyer:

On shutting down Princeton's man-up chances: “Certainly being a man down puts pressure on our defense. We gave up more shots than we would have liked to, but we pushed and pulled each other in every direction, and gave Jake (Myers) shots he was capable of saving.”

Princeton Head Coach Bill Tierney:

”We thank God for putting us in this position. I asked our seniors to bring Princeton back to where Princeton belongs”.

On the Ivy League: “We used to walk through this league – now game in and game out is a war. It’s a credit to lacrosse that kids are playing at a level higher than lacrosse can hold. We’ll continue to find the best students and the best athletes. It’s an honor to be part of this league.”

On Cornell Defense: “Today they pre-rotated and stayed on the slides, and we were a bit slow on dodges.”

On disallowed goal at end of third: “Our guys came back to the huddle with the right mind-set. The referee said that he was 100 percent sure it wasn’t a goal, and you move on from there.”

Princeton defenseman Chris Peyser:

”We let up three soft goals in the first half. Our second half was much better, but their quick start hurt us. We were confident in our game plan, and we stuck with it the whole game. It’s been a great four years, and it’s tough to go out on this note.”
