Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra Men's Basketball team will look to continue its solid play as of late as the Pride will head to the Sunshine State on Tuesday to face South Florida.

Hofstra (3-1) picked up its second consecutive victory on Sunday as the Pride dominated Wagner to the tune of a 93-71 victory over the Seahawks. The 3-1 start to the season is the program's best since the 2008-09 squad began the year with a 7-1 mark en route to a 21-win campaign.
It was the
Juan'ya Green show on Sunday as the junior guard showcased his strong skill set with a 24-point, 11-assist effort against Wagner. The 24 points marks a Hofstra individual season-high this season and the 11 assists tied a career-high for the Philadelphia, PA native.
Green has been tremendous through four games for Hofstra this season as he is leading the team with 19.8 points and 6.5 assists per outing. Even more impressive is the talented guard has committed just four turnovers in 140 minutes played this season equaling a stellar 6.5 to 1 assist-to-turnover ratio.
Fellow Philadelphia, PA native
Ameen Tanksley had a strong game on Sunday as well with five three-pointers en route to a 17-point outing for the junior forward.
Tanksley is second on the team in scoring this season with 14.5 points and also averaging six rebounds per game. Two other players are averaging double digits with Friday's hero, graduate guard
Dion Nesmith third on the team with 12.5 points per outing and sophomore guard
Brian Bernardi fourth with 10.8 points per game.
South Florida is also 3-1 this season as the Bulls have earned wins over Flagler, Jackson State and Alabama-Birmingham. Hofstra and USF have both suffered their lone loss to the same opponent as the Bulls fell, 68-65, to North Carolina State on Sunday.
Chris Perry leads South Florida with 16.8 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. Also assisting in the Bulls efforts are Corey Allen Jr. with 12 points per game, along with Nehemias Morillo (10.3 ppg and 7.0 rpg) and Anthony Collins (10.3 ppg and 6.3 apg).
Hofstra is 0-1 all-time against South Florida, having faced the Bulls at the University Hoops Classic in Pittsburgh, PA during the 2001-02 season. Head Coach
Joe Mihalich is 1-0 in his head coaching career against USF, defeating the Bulls, 70-55, during the 2008-09 season.
As a program, Hofstra is 7-20 all-time against the current members of the American Athletic Conference.
