1/18/2016 12:35:00 PM

Hempstead, NY – Hofstra University senior center Rokas Gustys was named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week, it was announced by the conference office this afternoon.

Gustys shared the award with Chris Flemmings of UNCW.

Gustys has a tremendous week for Hofstra as he averaged 20 points and 15 rebounds in the Pride's 1-1 week. Gustys shot a stellar 79% (15-19) from the field combined in the two games as he was 6-9 vs. Drexel and 9-10 against James Madison.

He opened the week with a 15-point, 10-rebound effort in the win over Drexel.

He would follow that up with one of the all-time great performances in program history as he notched 25 points and 20 rebounds against James Madison.

They were his seventh and eighth double-doubles of the season. The 25/20 tally against JMU was the first time a Hofstra player had at least 20 points and 20 rebounds since David Taylor notched 25 and 20 against Wagner on January 27, 1982. It was also the first 20-rebound game since Kenny Adeleke had 20 against UNCW on February 15, 2003. Gustys also added three assists and two blocks. He started both games and averaged 33.5 minutes per contest.

For the season he is averaging 11.7 points and 10.1 rebounds per game.
